Flightless Bird 1.0.0

The fastest way

Write to hello@madeit.ist. There is no form inside the game, because the game has no way to send anything anywhere — that is the same reason it collects nothing about you.

Say which phone and which iOS version you are on, and what you were doing when it went wrong. Those two things are usually the difference between a problem we can act on and one we cannot reproduce.

Usual questions

The bird drops too fast

Gravity never changes; the pipes do. Every five points they move faster, their gaps narrow and they sit closer together. The gaps stop narrowing at level seven, the spacing settles at level eight and the speed tops out at level eleven, so nothing gets harder after that. If the first few pipes are the problem rather than the later ones, say so — the opening difficulty is a judgement call and it can be changed.

I tapped and nothing happened

A tap anywhere on the screen flaps, and the first one starts the run. Once you have crashed, taps on the sky stop working on purpose — the tap that killed you should not launch the next attempt. Use the button on the game-over card instead.

How do I change the sky, or the colour of the bird?

Settings → Theme has seven: Night, Day, Dusk, Digital, Space, Frozen and Lava. Settings → Bird has four colours. Neither affects how the game plays — the pipes sit exactly where they always did.

How do I start my progress over?

Achievements → Reset all progress, at the bottom of the list. It clears your best score, your lifetime counters and every unlocked achievement on this device, and it cannot be undone.

An achievement will not unlock

Four of the eleven are judged inside a single run and reset when it ends: squeezing through with under ten pixels of clearance, passing dead through the middle of a gap, clearing ten pipes without touching the ceiling, and staying up for ninety seconds. They cannot be assembled across several attempts.

The game is in the wrong language

It follows your phone on first launch. Settings → Language sets it yourself; there are seven, listed in their own words.

Nothing vibrates

Settings → Haptics. If it is on and you still feel nothing, iOS is silencing it: check Low Power Mode, and Settings → Sounds & Haptics → System Haptics on your phone.

What the game keeps, and what it never touches, is set out on the privacy page.
